This episode only contains a fraction of the magic that happened on this, the three year anniversary of Sonic Onslaught, but right off the bat, this episode was newsworthy as Marcela chose Sonic Onslaught as the first place in the world to reveal what happened with Vuur, which was intended to be her band with Anneke van Giersbergen. The conversation just flowed from there, touching on backing singing with the purpose of not being heard, Dark Horse White Horse, MaYaN…And much more. Nick even plays a ‘guess who?’ game with Marcela and Christel, which lead to a discussion of vocal coaching. Podcast - The art of interviewing – Nick and Christel brought one of that podcast’s hosts, Dianne van Giersbergen, onto Sonic Onslaught. Dianne is a singer Nick has been a fan of since her Xandria days, and questions about that era do come up, in particular a long-running curiosity about the song ‘Ship of Doom’. However, the bulk of the conversation was about her solo career, which was, at that time, only just beginning. This interview was also just the beginning, and it shows, as Nick and Christel were still trying to find their footing while dealing with the amazing, whirlwind personality that is their guest. It was, and is, an amazing piece of history, and the throughline by which everything else follows.
